Concept

The Montepríncipe Tennis Club in Madrid represents a perfect integration between landscape and sport. We have transformed the natural environment into an active component of the sporting experience, establishing a new paradigm of sustainable and empathetic design in which both disciplines define and nourish each other. Without hierarchies.

LANDSCAPE AND SPORT

The central concept of our project has focused on the complete integration of the natural environment and the Club's facilities. In this space, the landscape is not merely a backdrop for sports activities, nor is sports simply an activity. Instead, both elements define and nourish each other, creating a connection without imposition.

The centuries-old holm oaks and pines have been fully preserved and have become an essential part of the design. Solar studies conducted to orient the courts ensure that the trees provide natural shade at different times of the day without interfering with the game, thus creating an ideal microclimate for sports practice.

A porous natural environment has been proposed, where sports can be practiced flexibly, allowing users to choose how and where to engage in their activities. Relaxation or stretching areas among the centuries-old oaks, spaces for group sports under the shade of the trees, and walking and interaction areas for users extend throughout the project.

THE USER AT THE CENTER OF EVERYTHING

In the design of the Monteprincipe Tennis Club, we have adopted a user-centered philosophy, recognizing the diversity of those who will enjoy the facilities. The integration of three types of users involves a deep understanding of their pathways, access points, and limitations. Members seek exclusivity and comfort, students require functional spaces for their training, and visitors demand a good user experience. This diversity has become the guiding thread that, along with the natural environment, has directed our design decisions.

Each playing area is strategically located considering shadow studies to ensure natural shade. This careful planning allows users to experience the sensation of playing in the middle of a forest, enhancing their connection with nature.
